Privacy Policy
Last Updated: 30-August-2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Stockitron (the "App", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information in connection with your use of our application, which is provided through the Shopify platform.
By installing and using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you install the App on your Shopify store, we automatically access certain types of information from your Shopify account to provide our inventory management functionality.
a. Data from Shopify
To function properly, the App requests access to the following Shopify API scopes:
- read_products & read_inventory: We read product and inventory data to track components, Bill of Materials (BOM), and calculate Low Stock thresholds.
- write_inventory: We modify inventory quantities when you execute a Work Order or receive a Purchase Order.
- read_locations: We read your store's location data to sync inventory correctly across your different warehouses or retail locations.
b. Store Information
We collect basic information about your Shopify store, such as the shop domain (myshopify.com URL), store email, and store name, to identify your account and communicate with you regarding your subscription or technical support.
c. Customer Data
We do not collect, store, or process any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) of your end customers. Our App strictly manages back-end inventory operations (Purchase Orders, Work Orders, and Components) and does not interact with customer checkout data, shipping addresses, or payment details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- Core Functionality: To track component inventory, calculate Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), execute Work Orders, and generate Purchase Orders.
- Billing: To verify your subscription status and plan limits (e.g., number of components or BOMs allowed on your active plan).
- Support & Maintenance: To provide technical support, troubleshoot issues, and improve the App's performance.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We only share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party services (such as our database hosting provider) strictly for the purpose of operating the App. These providers are bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
4. Data Retention
We retain your store and inventory data for as long as the App is installed on your Shopify store. When you uninstall the App, we receive an app/uninstalled webhook from Shopify. Upon receiving this webhook, we will mark your account as inactive. If you wish to have all your data permanently deleted from our servers upon uninstallation, please contact us.
5. GDPR Compliance and Data Subject Requests
Shopify provides mandatory Webhooks to ensure compliance with privacy laws like the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).
Although we do not collect your end-customers' personal data, we fully comply with Shopify's mandatory data requests:
- Customer Data Request (customers/data_request): If a customer requests their data, we will respond to Shopify confirming we hold no customer PII.
- Customer Redact (customers/redact): If a customer requests their data be deleted, we will respond to Shopify confirming we hold no customer PII.
- Shop Redact (shop/redact): If you close your Shopify store and request deletion of your store's data, we will permanently delete all records associated with your shop domain from our database within 30 days.
6. Security
We take reasonable precautions to protect your data. Communication between our App and Shopify is encrypted using HTTPS. Your data is stored securely in databases with restricted access. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We advise you to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
